SOLstice 2.0 by Lantice SOLstice 2.0 by Lantice
4 years ago, My cousin had a original character named "Solstice", "Lanavi" now, That I enhanced. Then soon after that, I made a revision that closely resembles my style, while maintaining most of the hallmarks of the character design. The whole story about that project here [link] anyway, Now I made an updated, more mature version of her since she's 4 years older now. This time I got full reign over the design. I still incorporated the feel of the younger version but taken it to the next level. As you can see, her weapon, Mech/staff head like thing has been updated and given more detail compared with the old prototype. Her Costume design too have changed to give her a more mature look. The old piece wasn't colored so the color scheme is new here. Since the shades of gray and black goes well with her design. and that ultimately affects the color scheme. Also, I have realized that pale color schemes suited my designs better than saturated ones based from the results of my last 2 projects. This piece is my first project done in my new/more modern Tablet PC that has a more neutral and more accurate screen, which helps in color composition.
My cousin that originally design the original "Solstice" recently gave me permission to designate my "SOLstice" as a spin-off character of his design. This gave me the freedom to further develop this character, and finally added in my original character roster.
As per all of my projects, The sketching, and inking are done traditionally, then scanned and digitized. All digital aspect of the project is done in Paint tool SAI. That includes the line art corrections and Cel-shading.
Overall the piece came up really well and finally after 2 years beats my "Ciel Russet" project as my best work to date. 5/3/12. Also might want to check out her roots at the original creator's page.[link]

Oh she looks really cool, and you did a really good job! Especially with that weapon, it must've taken forever.
Her legs and arms looks a bit long compared to her torso though, but really it still looks pretty neat~!
